2026 GRI Announcement
Both UPS and FedEx have Announced a 5.9% GRI for 2026
For the third consecutive year UPS & FedEx have announced their 2026 General Rate Increase (GRI) of 5.9%, but there are key differences. FedEx new rates will take effective January 5, 2026 while UPS is implementing their rate increase on December 22, 2025, two weeks earlier.
While both UPS and FeddEx have announced the same 5.9% GRI increase, there are different cost drivers between the changes UPS and FedEx are making for 2026. Shippers should start modeling the 2026 impact across thier unique shipping profile and set a plan to mitigate the increase in cost. The key is to look beyond the headline number as most shippers will experience a significantly higher rate increase, estimated to be 8%-12% based on our shipper research.
